Two Kinds Of Luck

Luck is a term that seems to be understood differently by everyone.

The dictionary definition of luck is “success or failure through chance rather than one’s own actions.”

Luck or chance certainly does almost always play a role in success or failure, but is it fair to say that luck is outside of our control?

I don’t believe so.

I think there’s two kinds of luck:

Random luck, which the above definition could be applied to,

And

Opportunistic luck, which is essentially created luck.

Being prepared in life is paramount to your overall success,

And part of being prepared is being ready to seize opportunities as they come.

Carpe Diem as some would say.

While random luck does happen at times, like when someone wins the lottery, the vast majority of luck that occurs in your life is the opportunistic kind.

Now, the thing about opportunistic luck is that if you’re not prepared to receive it, it’ll pass you by.

A great opportunity may come your way, but due to being ill prepared for it, you might miss out.

In fact, I would say this happens often.

So how to prepare for opportunistic luck, you’re probably wondering?

By working on yourself daily.

Improving yourself even a little bit each day can open the door a bit wider for when a great opportunity or chance comes your way.

You need to be on the lookout too.

Random luck might be fun to think about and even seem more desirable in a sense.

However, opportunistic luck requires work and effort.

It’s essentially SELF-CREATED luck.

Don’t wait around hoping to win big while playing the lottery.

Work on yourself so you’re prepared to win big when the opportunity arises!

Look Good, Feel Great!

Look Good, Feel Great!: Looking good is a huge part of style, and it’s the most obvious part, in my opinion. Most of the time, people start dressing-up because they want to convey a message to those around them. But there’s a second, much more important aspect of style and personal image. That being how style makes a person FEEL When you look good, you feel great! And even more than that, your feelings will radiate out onto other people who will be drawn to you. Style to me has always been about feeling my best; in fact, style was a significant part of me overcoming my body image issues. I was never really one to seek compliments or enjoy flattery– even though that stuff obviously comes with looking your best– rather what mattered to me was how style literally changed the way I felt. I remember putting on my first suit and feeling the most empowered I have ever felt. Not only that, but I noticed pretty quickly how everywhere I went I was treated differently.  People started ...
Art can be incredibly motivating and being around art can have an immensely empowering effect on us.  It’s a similar effect to one experienced while being surrounded by religious relics or statues– art can make us feel invigorated and influenced by something greater than ourselves. It’s almost like experiencing what John Keats called the Sublime in a more easily accessible way.  According to Romanticist writers like Keats, the Sublime is defined as a meeting of the subjective-internal and objective-external, and is the strongest emotion we as Humans can experience.  It typically requires us to put ourselves in awe-inspiring situations like seeing the sunrise from the peak of a mountain or looking up at a statue that towers over us. Instead of climbing a mountain or finding a huge statue though, with art we only need to go to a museum or into our living room, if we’re collectors. There are many different types of art and genres, all of which can have a powerful effe...

Quick Start Guide to Developing Self-Discipline     Step 1- Know EXACTLY What You Want   Step 2- Believe You Can Do It   Step 3- Do It and Keep Doing It      ------     Purpose of Guide:     The purpose of this guide is twofold. First off, it is meant to simply convey to you the necessary requirements for instilling s elf-discipline into your life. The steps will be succinct, but the reason for that has to do with this guide’s second purpose. It will also serve as a tool to pinpoint where exactly you’re struggling in the process.      This will allow me to better help you understand what you need to establish unwavering self-discipline. More than that, it will be an indicator to let you know where you personally need to start .  For example, many of us have a goal that we’re working towards, but perhaps that goal isn’t spec ific. Well, that’s an issue—we can start working there. But let’s say the g...
